Sustainability in the area of event materials is not just a buzzword for us, but something we put into practice. True to our guiding principle of prevention before reduction before compensation, we made a conscious decision not to simply dispose of a used banner cover, but to give it a second chance. Together with the Heidelberger Werkstätten der Lebenshilfe Heidelberg e. V. a new product series was created through professional upcycling: 30 items, consisting of sturdy sports bags and handy pencil cases, were made from a single originally used event banner.
This approach exemplifies our position as an agency with high sustainability standards: we think ahead and act responsibly – far beyond traditional compensation measures. Waste prevention is our top priority, followed by reducing resource consumption – and only then do we consider compensation.
The collaboration with Lebenshilfe Heidelberg e.V. also shows how sustainability and inclusion can be meaningfully combined. People with disabilities do valuable work there – from cutting to manufacturing – and thus actively contribute to transforming disused materials into high-quality products suitable for everyday use. Through our project, we were able to support this commitment and at the same time contribute to the circular economy.
We have already put our sustainable thinking into practice in the past through a variety of measures: whether by setting up insect watering places at event venues or by designing accessible documents to encourage greater participation. These new sports bags and pencil cases continue this approach, literally carrying it forward—in a very concrete and tangible way.
For us, sustainability means more than responsibility: it is a creative invitation to ourselves and our partners to value existing materials, conserve resources, and think about materials in new contexts—especially in the event sector. The handmade products from the Heidelberger Werkstätten are not only beautiful and functional: they are a tangible expression of our agency's awareness, made visible.
