The academy of Federal Employment Agency in Mannheim, also known as the University for Applied Labour Studies of the Federal Employment Agency, was chosen as organiser for the 2012 IAEVG Conference. Following the conferences in Cape Town, South Africa and Melbourne, Australia expectations were running high – the goal was not only to provide academics and scholars from around the world with seamless programme, but also to give focus to Germany’s status as a centre of academic excellence.
The title of this year’s conference, “Career Guidance for Social Justice, Prosperity and Sustainable Employment - Challenges for the 21st Century” was brought to life in 18 symposia and more than 40 paper sessions. More than 500 participants from 40 countries and every continent came to the University for Applied Labour Studies to learn, to communicate and to network.
In cooperation with the International Association for Educational and Vocational Guidance (IAEVG/AIOSP/IVBB) and der Nationales Forum für Beratung in Bildung, Beruf und Beschäftigung (nfb) (National Forum for Guidance in Education, Career and Employment) and supported by the Federal Ministry for Education and Research (BMBF) the conference took place from 3rd to 6th October 2012.
Service-orientated participant management formed the mainstay of our tasks, as well as providing an attractive social programme, which included various excursions and tours in the region and two evening events. In addition, we were responsible for designing and implementing all conference media, as well as an informative and practical trilingual conference website, which served for registration, publication of abstracts and general information on the conference.
